Looking for a residency or fellowship?

The refugee health field has grown thanks to the dedication and direction of mentors passing on best practices to learners. If you’re searching for residency programs in the US that provide refugee healthcare training (eg, have special programs, tracks, clinics), you’ve come to the right place!

With thanks to Dr. Fern Hauck and Dr. Sarah Kimball for leading this directory work, and to all the residency leaders who submitted their information. This list was last updated March 2024.

If you know of a residency or fellowship program that is missing, email hello@refugeesociety.org

The GHLT prepares physicians to become leaders in global health practice, research, policy and education. It combines didactic learning with international medical rotations and research to develop future leaders in Global Health. Residents will participate in two-week intensive courses, monthly international rounds, journal clubs, and round table dinners. During their time abroad residents identify needs in their international community and work on a project to answer questions or improve care related to that need. Ideally previous projects are stepping stones for future ones. Residents may choose instead to take part in larger, established projects at their site.
