Target Audience

This activity is intended for Physicians, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, Pharmacists, Nurses, Psychologists, and Social Workers engaged in the care of refugee patients with various disease states.


Educational Objectives

After completing this activity, the participant should be better able to:

  1. Identify unique aspects of the provision of healthcare to refugees
  2. Describe disease processes prevalent in various refugee populations
  3. Utilize tools and strategies for implementing culturally competent medical care to refugees
  4. Employ strategies for improved provision for language access for refugees

Continuing Psychology Education

Continuing Education (CE) credits for psychologists are provided through the co-sponsorship of the American Psychological Association (APA) Office of Continuing Education in Psychology (CEP). The APA CEP Office maintains responsibly for the content of the programs.

This program offers 17.0 continuing education credits for psychologists.


Social Worker Education

SW

As a Jointly Accredited Organization, Postgraduate Institute for Medicine is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved under this program. State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit. Postgraduate Institute for Medicine maintains responsibility for this course. Social workers completing this course receive 17.0 clinical continuing education credits.
